Going Back To College After Having Children

Left to Right: My son Steve, Me, Daughters Olivia and Izetta

My Dad and Mom with me on this awesome moment.
In  August 2003, I decided to return to college and get my 4 year degree in Horticulture.  This would mean a huge change in my life style.
With the support of my parents and kids, we moved in with my awesome school teacher parents.
Upon meeting with the school counselor I discovered I had 6 semesters of hard work to graduate.  This meant a full plus load of classes.  Driving an hour each way to class 5 times a week.  Working 2 jobs and keeping up with home and school work.  I had over 200 credit hours that amounted to nothing.  Form 83' to that time I had gone back to college off and on only to not finish anything.
This time I was determine to finish.  I also had a bet with my brother that I could get done before him.  I beat him by 6 months.
I graduated with my bachelors degree in Business Horticulture in August of 2005 at age of 40.  I will not say it was easy or that it was not worth it.
I started my own landscaping business in October of 2005 but that is another entry.  I am please to say my son has his bachelors degree in Finance and is working on his NBA.  Both of my daughter are with in 3-4 semesters of graduating with their bachelors degree.
I am hoping to return to college in 3-5 years to get my Master degree in Landscape Architecture. I admit the GRE is part of why I have taken so long to return and I just recently decided on what I want to get my Masters in.
It is never too late to return to college and kick some young ass.  You will not regret it.
